Be prepared to climb the highest of mountains and see the grandest of monuments in the Wind Symphony concert, “Mountains and Monuments,” this Saturday (11/23) at the Majestic Theater. The Sunderman Conservatory Wind Symphony, conducted by Director of Bands Russell McCutcheon, performs four pieces of music by living composers. Arches, by Dan Welcher, is inspired by Arches National Park in Utah. A Commission Consortium Premiere, Pikes Peak, by Adam Gorb, celebrates the majesty of the second most visited mountain in the world, soaring over fourteen thousand feet. Joseph Schwantner’s …and the mountains rising nowhere is one of the landmark pieces for wind ensemble, technically challenging, and a masterwork for the genre.  Islas y Montañas, by Shelley Hanson, features music in the styles of three regions of Latin America and brings the concert to a rousing conclusion.

$5.00 for adults; FREE for children 18 and under and those with a Gettysburg College ID. All patrons must have a ticket.
