The Sunderman Conservatory kicks off the 2017-2018 concert season with a joint concert by the Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony.
The Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Vimbayi Kaziboni, begins the program with “Music of the Heart”, Serenade for Flute, Harp and Strings by Howard Hanson featuring soloist Rose Martus, 2017 Sunderman Concerto Competition Winner, and the overture from "William Tell" by Gioachino Rossini.
The Wind Symphony, led by conductor Russell McCutcheon, performs the second half of the program “Music for the Soul”, including this is most certainly true by James Stephenson, honoring the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, a piece celebrating the life of composer David Maslanka, and Music for the Royal Fireworks by G.F. Handel to stir the soul on the way home.
Tickets: $5.00 for adults; FREE for children 18 and under and those with a Gettysburg College ID. All patrons must have a ticket.
