21st Annual Winter Jazz Concert with Graham Breedlove

The College Jazz Ensemble returned as a perfoming organization in 1989 after a five year hiatus. All Styles of jazz are studied encompassing swing, latin, fusion, bop, and American popular standards of the Big Band Era. The GCJE has performed at the Montreux (Switzerland), Vienna (France), and the North Sea (Holland) Jazz Festivals, opened for Ray Brown, Phil Woods, and Kenny Baron, and participated in the Villanova (PA) and George Mason (VA) Intercollegiate Jazz Festivals.

This 2009 concert will Feature Louisana native Graham Breedlove.

Since taking up the trumpet at age twelve in his hometown of Lafayette, LA, Graham Breedlove has performed on four continents in more than twenty countries, with headliners representing more than fifty Grammy Nominations. Among these are: The Saturday Night Live Band, Ray Charles, Wynton Marsalis, Tito Puente, James Moody and Arturo Sandoval. As a sideman, Breedlove has appeared on more than fifty recordings, including back-to-back Grammy winning CDs in 2004 and 2005 with Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer. Mr. Breedlove is a trumpet soloist with the Army Blues jazz ensemble, part of The United States Army Band, "Pershing's Own" in Washington, DC. He has appeared as a soloist, composer/arranger or lead player on the Army Blues's three most recent CDs, "25th Anniversary Concert" (featuring New York Voices), "Things Ain't What They Used to Be", and "With Gratitude".
