Enjoy an unforgettable evening of music as the Gettysburg College Jazz Ensemble and the Sunderman Conservatory Wind Symphony kick off the 2025-2026 season with "JOURNEYS." This exciting concert marks the first performance of the year (Sept. 27 at 8:00 PM), featuring a dynamic blend of jazz and symphonic wind music inspired by exciting journeys and travels to far-off places. Experience the energy and artistry of these talented ensembles as they set the tone for a season of remarkable performances.

The Sunderman Conservatory Wind Symphony, conducted by Russell McCutcheon, will perform works that take you on a musical journey, by Michele Fernández, Julie Giroux, Ernesto Lecuona, and bring you back home with John Philip Sousa’s Homeward Bound March. The Wind Symphony has performed in the Gewandhaus Mendelssohn Hall in Leipzig, Smetana Hall in Prague, the Great Guild Concert Hall in Latvia, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Under the direction of Amanda Heim, the Gettysburg College Jazz Ensemble will perform timeless classics by composers like Duke Ellington, Benny Carter, and Annie Booth. Enjoy the settings, depicting scenes from Uptown Manhattan all the way to Latin America. The Jazz Ensemble has performed at the Montreux, Vienné, Jazz a Juan, Istanbul, and North Sea Jazz Festivals as well as presenting concerts in Amsterdam, Paris, Bruges, Heidelberg, Athens, Istanbul, and Venice.

Tickets will be available at the Majestic Theater Box Office, 25 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, or by calling (717) 337-8200.
