The Robert Fortenbaugh Memorial Lecture sponsored by the Civil War Institute and Department of History is presented annually on November 19, the anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. The 2025 event, a roundtable discussion on The Past, Present, and Future of the Civil War moderated by History faculty members Jim Downs and Scott Hancock, will feature three eminent historians whose work has transformed the field of Civil War studies: David Blight (Yale University), Drew Gilpin Faust (Harvard University) and Stephanie McCurry (Columbia University).
