Over one hundred talented young musicians from four local schools will join forces with the Sunderman Conservatory of Music faculty and students for an action-packed day of music-making and inspiration. The day kicks off with a thrilling concert by our world-class string faculty, followed by hands-on master classes for every string instrument, a behind-the-scenes look at a choir rehearsal, and an exciting opportunity for the students to rehearse and perform a great musical selection together. The grand finale? A spectacular side-by-side concert at the historic Majestic Theater, where these young musicians will take the stage alongside members of the Sunderman Conservatory Orchestra string players for a performance you won’t want to miss.

The Symphony Orchestra forms the core of the orchestral program at the Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College. Directed by Dr. César Leal, the Orchestra performs a wide variety of works that reflect both the high performance standards at the Sunderman Conservatory and the Orchestra's place within the broader liberal arts community of Gettysburg College.

The ensemble is committed to providing a platform for both student and faculty soloists at the Sunderman Conservatory. Student soloists are selected through the annual Sunderman Conservatory Concerto Competition. Additionally, the College Symphony Orchestra is dedicated to performing new music, including world premieres. In 2023, the Symphony Orchestra completed a tour of the Baltics, performing to audiences in Lithuania and Latvia.
