The PEOPLE Project™ was started in 2017 by Lisa Cordiano as a simple staged reading of first-person narrated essays in the Stevens Theatre at Gettysburg College. Since then, the Project has been produced six times, each one a new iteration made unique by the participants who contributed. The event has historically included storytelling, music and dance performances, visual artwork exhibitions, and a video project.

The theme for The PEOPLE Project 2026 is “Crossroads,” and the performance event will be presented in the Majestic Theater’s Cinema on Thursday, October 15 ,at 7 PM to celebrate our shared community and join the series of PA/America 250 events in 2026. There will also be an exhibit of “Crossroads” themed artworks on display at the Adams County Arts Council for the month of October, with a First Friday reception on October 2 that is free and open to the public.

Gettysburg’s geography as a crossroads made it a spot of convergence in one of the United States’ most pivotal moments in history. Join us as we hear stories and music and view artwork illustrating the crossroads of present-day community members who have come to live, work, and play in our beloved Adams County.

Tickets: $20

Art Exhibit: October 2 – 29, Adams County Arts Council
